5 Halstead Road Runners headed North for Sunday’s 40th Greater Manchester Marathon. The 26.2 mile course passed many iconic sites around Manchester with a finish at Old Trafford. The 4 Halstead men were separated on the line by only a few minutes with Stuart Prestney running well to finish first for the club. Jon Buist, Juan De Gea and Andy Owens all recorded new PB’s, meanwhile, Rosie Atkins marked her return to marathon running with an excellent time of 4:26:58.

Closer to home Julia Woolnough, Richard Tiller and Nicole Smith completely the Little Bromley 10k. This was the inaugural running on the race and the perfect weather conditions made it a success. Nicole Smith used the event as her last race before the London Marathon in 2 weeks time and finished with an impressive new PB. Richard Tiller was first home, followed by Nicole Smith then Julia Woolnough.

To round off another bust weekend for the yellow vests of Halstead, Andy Wilmot ran the first Haverhill Marathon. The hilly course was a test however the experienced Wilmot finished in 4:27.
