Halstead Road Runners had 9 men and 2 women at the 2nd round of the 53-12 XC league. The 5 mile race was held at Ramsey near Harwich in very pleasant conditions which were a complete contrast to the previous two years at that venue, where runners had to endure torrential rain.
Stuart Prestney led the Halstead men home with 28th position out of the 178 finishers, followed by Don English 58th, Bradley Doe 75th, Mike Grealy 81st, John Markham 107th, Andy Carter 115th, Del Harrington 133rd, Kevin Laing 150th and Alistair Godfrey 152nd. Running in the same race but scoring separately Wendy Carter held off the late challenge of Lorraine Garnham as they crossed the line 30th and 32nd out of the 92 women who finished.
The next race is on Sunday 8th December at Gosfield School and hosted by Halstead Road Runners.
Stewart Ellis set a new personal best at the Perivale 5 mile road race which was also a North London 5 mile championship race. In perfect race conditions Stewart completed the course in 29.28 to finish in 17th place out of a field of 400 runners.
