Sunday’s blustery conditions didn’t deter 18 Halstead Road Runners turning out for the annual Great Bentley Half Marathon.  The popular fast and flat 13.1 mile course attracted a field of over 700 runners. Halsteads Neil Wilson was first home for the club in a time of 1:27:25, shortly followed by a group of 6 who all scored new personal bests, including Richard Candler who took a huge 20 minutes off of his previous best time.  Nicole Smith also recorded a new fantastic PB beating her previous best time by over 3minutes.

Halsteads successful weekend started on Saturday at the Great Notley parkrun. Debra Stong made her debut as a Halstead Road Runner and was second in her age group in a fantastic time of 29:58.  Mel Candler finished in 24:01 and was second lady overall. Sheila Purkiss won her age group in 36:11. Reigning World Duathlon Champion Maurice Young marked a 3 month lay off from injury with a time of 39:34.
