Kate’s Ultra Adventure

Halsteads’ Ultra Marathon runner Kate Allen competed in Sundays Peddars Way Ultra in Norfolk. Starting on the Suffolk boarders and finishing on the North Norfolk coast the ultra tough 48 mile race was made even more difficult with snow, sleet and freezing temperatures. However Kate, running her first ultra of the year put in a remarkable performance, just missing out on a podium position finishing 4th lady and 23rd overall in a time of 8hrs 56mins. Halsteads’ Cross Country teams rounded of the season with a decent performance at Sundays Hadleigh finale. The series was cut short due to Chelmsford Hylands Park race being cancelled, meaning Halstead’s chances of promotion were slim, however once again strong performances in the men’s team from the ever reliable Bradley Doe and Rosie Atkins for the ladies meant that Halstead finished 3rd overall in the series. Stuart Prestney, Nathan Roulson, Bob Langley, Juan De Gea and Jim Clark scored for the mens, whilst Rosie Atkins and Lorraine Garnham were the ladies scorers.

However special mention to all those that have competed in the series this season. Andy Carter, Alistair Godfrey, Sam Wolton, Wendy Carter, Kathryn Bronson and Hazel Buist to name a few
