Despite the heat it’s been another full on weekend of racing with several club members setting new personal bests over a variety of distances.  It was the last of this summer’s Friday 5 series which was hosted by Great Bentley running club.  This is always a popular event due to the flat course.  Caroliena Cameron finished the series in great form winning the FV45 age category in a time of 36.52.  Nicole Smith knocked over a minute off her pb to finish in 40.09.

On Sunday team HRR split themselves between the Felsted 10k and the Southend Half Marathon.  It would be fair to say runners suffered in the heat.  Caroliena Cameron found the Felsted 10k tough but was still first lady back for Halstead in 50.15.  Axel Voigt was disappointed by his time of 1 hour and 4 minutes.  However, there were some happy runners – Rob Frost was racing in the yellow and black vest for the first time and got a pb of 45.41.  Sheila Purkiss was first female V65 but unfortunately missed being presented with her trophy.

On the coast at Southend Half Marathon Heidi Worf was thrilled to finally go under 2 hours over the distance to finish in a new pb of 1 hour 57 minutes ably paced by club mate Sam Wolton.  Leigh-Anne Porter was 1 minute ahead of Heidi in 1 hour 56 minutes.  Treena Harrington finished in 2 hours 7 minutes.  For the men Simon Humphrey finished in 1 hour and 43 minutes.

Finally Mel Candler did the Gosfield Sprint Triathlon.  She finished 2 minutes quicker than last year in an overall time of 1 hour 27 minutes and 5th lady.
