Halstead Road Runners took their racing off road this weekend. The Essex Veterans Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday 26 November in the grounds of Writtle College. The course includes a tricky camber close to the edge of a large lake. Bob Langley finished 37th overall in the men’s race for those aged 50 and over, claiming second place in the V60 age category and a coveted Silver Essex Medal. Mike Grealy also represented the men with Wendy Carter, Lorraine Garnham and Julia Woolnough representing the women (photo attached of cross country runners).

The Festive Forest Challenge near Bury St Edmunds also took place on Saturday. This event offered 3 distance options with Treena Harrington finishing 19th overall and 5th lady in the 10k in 1 hour and 58 seconds. John Warne opted for the 20 mile option through the Kings Forest finishing in 3 hours 25 minutes and 5 seconds.

Stewart Ellis travelled to Hertfordshire on Sunday for the multi-terrain Bass Belle 10 miler. Stewart finished in 63 minutes and 8 seconds securing an impressive top 20 finish out of a field of 500 runners.
