Halstead Road Runners will be running a new beginners group to try to encourage people who wish to start running to join the club. The group will meet weekly at 6:30pm on Wednesday evening starting on 4th February.

We are a welcoming club and are always looking for new members to join us. People often have misconceptions about joining a running club, many people think we take it all very seriously and you may be worried you won’t be able to keep up. But for most of our members running is a passion and we all started somewhere. Some of us run to compete, some of us run to keep fit and some just run for the pleasure. Our ethos is to encourage each other and enjoy running together in a group, whatever your goal.

The club has been growing and evolving over the last few years and we now have a pretty diverse membership. Our members range from beginners to sub 3hr marathon runners and everything in between. We meet twice a week, Monday evening and Wednesday evening. Wednesday evening is our main club evening and is usually a structured run to help you improve your fitness. These sessions are generally either in a loop or an ‘out and back’ so there is no chance of anybody getting left behind and you can do as much or as little as you like. Monday evenings normally consists of 2 groups, a slower group and a faster group and we normally run between 5 and 7 miles.

We also regularly organise unofficial training runs at the weekend between ourselves, normally on a Sunday morning. These runs are a great opportunity to get to know the other members in the club and to have a good chat on the way round.

So, come on, don’t be shy. Come and check us out, the first Beginners group meeting is on 4th February at 6:30pm, please bring £1 with you. If you would like anymore information you can contact Meg on 07590 491120.
